Senior Controls Engineer (Bromley, Christchurch)

The Opportunity: 

We are seeking an experienced Senior Controls Engineer to join our team in Christchurch.

Working on innovative and world leading solutions for our customers, you will be responsible for converting and delivering design briefs / project objectives into solutions. You will be responsible for successfully and professionally converting design briefs / project objectives into solutions consistent with approved internal standards in a timely manner.

Key responsibilities include: 

  • Designing electrical and control circuits and software writing.
  • Developing the schematics and associated drawings by using EPlan or alternative electrical drafting tools.
  • Developing and writing machine software PLC/HMI/Servo/SCADA/Robot/Vision/Safety code (in conjunction with the Project Manager and/or Mechanical Design Engineers).
  • Setting up and debugging developed code, communication networks and drive systems, (servo/VSD/soft starters).
  • Commissioning equipment both locally in Scott’s facilities and offshore internationally at various customer facilities.
  • Take lead on project teams, product teams or the wider engineering team when required.

To be a great match for this role: 

  • A relevant Tertiary qualification/Electrical Trade Qualification (essential).
  • A full current New Zealand Electrical Registration/Electrical Service Technician Registration with New Zealand EWRB - Electrical Workers Registration Board (EWRB) (preferred)
  • A minimum of 5 years working in the automation industry.
  • Demonstrable previous experience and results in successful Control’s engineering roles in a manufacturing environment.
  • A current driver's license and the right to live and work permanently in New Zealand.
