Financial Accountant (Kenmure, Dunedin)

The Opportunity:

We are seeking an experienced and qualified CA “Financial Accountant” to join our growing team in Dunedin. This opportunity is a permanent, full-time position on a Monday-Friday basis.

This position is responsible for facilitating the group accounting function and financial reporting process for Scott, in line with legislation and best practice. This position will also need to maintain and develop the required knowledge and skills to take responsibility for Scott's external financial reporting requirements, ensuring at all times that the Company's annual financial statements are in line with the latest accounting standards.

This position will also assist in maintaining relationships with the majority Shareholder JBS and external parties on Audit and Tax services.

You will be responsible for:

  • Managing the group accounting function and the preparation of internal and external financial reports.
  • Supervising the month-end closing process for internal reporting and consolidation of monthly/quarterly/annual group data including preparation of financial statements.
  • Leading and liaising with external stakeholders and ensuring all reporting is completed on time.
  • Taking a lead in tax projects with EY and ensuring the group is in compliance with reporting deadlines.
  • Assisting with assigned projects as required.

To be a great match to this role you will:

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or relevant industry.
  • NZICA (ACA or CA) qualified accountant. (Mandatory)
  • 3-5+ years of relevant accounting experience in either a chartered accounting or corporate environment.
  • Attention to detail for accurate financial analysis.
  • Ability to build effective internal and external stakeholder relationships in the business.
  • Proficiency in data management systems and software’s such as Microsoft Excel, BI and Systeline.
