Service & Repairs Lead (Malaga, Perth)

The Opportunity:

This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced Service & Repairs Lead to join the Rocklabs team in Malaga, Perth (WA). The primary focus of the role is to lead and manage a regional team of Service Technicians, coordinating repairs as required by the business and ensuring efficient, responsive service to our existing customer base. You will work closely with the technician’s day to day, providing technical support across the region and helping to maintain high service standards.

Service work includes Rocklabs automated sample preparation systems, crushers, pulverisers, and dividers, as well as mining field automation for local laboratories and large mining corporations across a range of commodities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Team Supervision: Lead and develop a high-performing service team by fostering ownership, accountability, strong staff relations, and open, honest communication with staff, peers, and customers. Partner with the Manager to ensure adequate resourcing, plan service work, support Service Engineers to meet objectives, provide feedback and performance reviews, and act as a nominated supervisor in line with legislation.
  • Resource Planning/Coordination: Work with the Service Coordinator to plan resourcing, maximise labour utilisation, keep schedules updated daily, and ensure unplanned work is completed within agreed timeframes while supporting Service Agreement delivery. Liaise with the Warehouse to maintain service and rebuild inventory, manage the regional on-call roster, and partner with key stakeholders and line managers on service delivery.
  • Service: A hands-on service leader who delivers and oversees high-quality mechanical/electrical maintenance and fault-finding (including coordinating PLC/HMI/robot support), owns workmanship outcomes, strengthens customer relationships, estimates service costs, manages tools/materials, plans efficient site visits with spares readiness, applies best-practice engineering, and identifies additional service opportunities.
  • Business Growth: Support sales by encouraging technicians to identify opportunities with customers, visit sites to build strong relationships, and feed customer insights back to engineering and manufacturing to drive equipment improvements.

About you:

  • Minimum Trade Qualification in Mechanical or Electrical.
  • 5 years relevant working experience as Lead Service position.
  • Experience working on robotic applications, automated machinery and processing equipment.
  • Honest, reliable and proactive with a strong sense of accountability and responsibility.
  • Travel is an integral part of this role and is required to conduct machine service work, upgrades and other Service business.
  • Must be able to travel domestically which is typically considered with day visits, overnight and extended days up to 10 days. (Essential)
