The Opportunity
We're looking for an experienced Senior Service Technician to join our team in the Canterbury region.
This is more than a traditional service role. We are looking for someone with strong mechanical engineering and fitting experience who enjoys a mix of workshop based engineering, manufacturing support and customer facing service work. You'll work with world class automation equipment, supporting both new projects and existing customer installations, with opportunities to travel for installations, commissioning and technical support.

Key responsibilities
Mechanical Engineering & Fitting
Carry out precision mechanical fitting, assembly, and maintenance of automated machinery.
Provide hands-on engineering and manufacturing support, including machining, fabrication, and component fitting.
Work from engineering drawings to achieve high quality outcomes and critical tolerances.
Service & Customer Support
Provide planned maintenance and breakdown support for Scott customers.
Install, commission and service automation equipment both onsite and remotely.
Participate in an on-call roster as required.
Build strong relationships with customers through professional technical support.
Engineering Projects
Support engineering and workshop projects across the business.
Work closely with engineering teams to improve equipment reliability and performance.
Mentor and support other technicians while contributing to a collaborative team environment.
Quality & Continuous Improvement
Maintain accurate service documentation, inventory and spare parts records.
Contribute product and field feedback to support continuous improvement initiatives.
Ensure work is completed safely, efficiently and to Scott's high quality standards.
About You
You'll bring:
A trade qualification in Mechanical Engineering.
At least five years' experience in a mechanical engineering, fitting or industrial machinery environment.
Experience working with automation equipment or complex machinery (highly desirable).
Strong fitting and machining skills with a commitment to quality workmanship.
An understanding of pneumatic and hydraulic systems.
Excellent communication and problem solving skills.
The ability to work independently and as part of a team.
A willingness to travel within New Zealand and internationally for installations, commissioning and customer support.
The legal right to live and work permanently in New Zealand.
