The Opportunity:
We are seeking an experienced Controls Engineer to join our team on a full-time, permanent basis, based in Mangere, Auckland.
This role has responsibility for ensuring the electrical and controls functions of our equipment and projects meet all relevant standards and established commercial criteria. This includes knowledge of and implementation of the appropriate standards for the destination geography, meeting project cost budgets and project timelines.
Key Responsibilities include:
- Designing electrical and control circuits and software writing, ensuring safe and appropriate electrical design methods are used.
- Developing and writing machine software PLC/HMI/Servo/SCADA/Robot code (in conjunction with the Project Manager and/or Mechanical Design Engineers).
- The setup and debugging of developed code, communication networks, drive systems, (servo/VSD/soft starters), safety systems and other devices at any Scott site or customer site if required.
- Maintain comprehensive documentation of control system designs, programming codes, and configurations. Keep records of changes and updates for future reference.
- Work closely with electrical engineers, mechanical engineers, and other relevant teams to integrate control systems into larger projects and ensure seamless functionality.
- Ensure that control systems meet all relevant industry standards and safety regulations. Implement safety protocols to protect personnel and equipment.
- Robot/Cobot programming advantages.
To be a great match:
- A degree or diploma in Software Engineering, Electrical Engineering or similar.
- 3-5 years relevant industrial automation experience.
- Excellent communication skills and proven ability in following client specifications and proven internal design practices.
- Strong analytical skills to determine alternative pathways for mitigating risk, reducing cost or creating float in project schedules.
- A high level of computer literacy particularly in electrical design packages.
- High attention to detail.
- To be customer and results focused, have integrity, and be a proven team-player.
- To have the legal right to live and work permanently in New Zealand.
