About the Role

As a Mechanical Design Engineer, you will play a key role in converting project concepts and client briefs into detailed mechanical designs and manufacturing ready documentation.

You’ll work closely with project teams, manufacturing, contractors, and customers to deliver high quality automation solutions from concept through to commissioning.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design innovative automation and machinery solutions using SolidWorks
  • Produce accurate design details and manufacturing drawings
  • Design and document hydraulic and pneumatic systems
  • Support commissioning and testing of mechanical systems
  • Work collaboratively with project managers, manufacturing teams, and contractors
  • Participate in project and commissioning meetings
  • Ensure designs meet safety standards and client specifications
  • Prepare technical documentation, manuals, and project records
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives across the business

What We’re Looking For

You’ll bring a practical engineering mindset, strong communication skills, and a passion for delivering high quality outcomes.

Ideally, you will have:

  • Bachelor of Mechanical Engineering, NZCE, or Diploma in Mechanical Engineering
  • Minimum 2+ years’ experience in mechanical engineering or manufacturing environments
  • Strong SolidWorks experience
  • Experience with AutoCAD or DraftSight
  • Knowledge of hydraulic and pneumatic system design
  • Understanding of industrial machinery and automation systems
  • Exposure to PLCs, HMIs, servos, VFDs, robotics, or vision systems is advantageous
  • Ability to develop solutions from concept through to detailed design
  • Strong problem-solving and stakeholder communication skills
  • A collaborative, team-focused approach with the ability to work autonomously
