164246
New Zealand
March 16, 2026

THE OPPORTUNITY:

We are seeking a hands-on, mechanically confident Project Engineer to join our Christchurch Service team. This role sits at the intersection of mechanical design, project engineering, and on-site delivery, with a strong focus on our global appliance service projects. While your primary focus will be the appliance service portfolio, you will also support the New Zealand service space, helping bridge these two areas.

If you enjoy designing, building, drawing and taking those solutions through fabrication, installation, commissioning, and customer sign-off, this role offers complete lifecycle engineering involvement.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:

  • Project Engineering: Taking ownership of assigned projects such as machine retrofits, upgrades and major spare orders ensuring they are delivered on time, within budget and to specification. This includes managing client communication, scheduling, design, subcontractors, logistics, and commissioning, while driving revenue through timely invoicing and variations.
  • Mechanical Design: You will deliver high-quality mechanical designs, models, and drawings to support appliance service projects and New Zealand service work. You’ll ensure concepts are technically robust, practical to build, and commercially aligned.
  • Sales Support: The role collaborates with the service management team to produce sales proposals, develop concepts, and prepare scope of work documents that enable quick and efficient project start-ups across mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical design. At times, you will also visit customer sites to conduct feasibility surveys and discuss potential sales opportunities.
  • Quality assurance & Compliance: You will ensure components are manufactured to drawings and specifications, meeting end-use requirements and quality standards. This includes interpreting engineering drawings, achieving critical-to-quality tolerances, checking components during manufacture, and completing quality documentation accurately.

About you:

  • A Bachelor of Engineering (Mechanical or Mechatronics) or a Diploma in Mechanical Engineering
  • 2+ years’ experience in mechanical design, engineering, or a related role
  • Strong ability to interpret and produce detailed engineering drawings and models
  • Practical exposure to workshop, manufacturing, or on-site environments (internships included)
  • Strong communication skills and confidence leading small teams during design, build, and installation phases
  • Competency in Microsoft Office and ability to learn new systems quickly
  • A proactive, adaptable attitude with a passion for solving problems and engaging with customers
  • Willingness to travel regularly within NZ and internationally, typically between 1-4 weeks at a time
